AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has expressed strong objection to not giving VJ to a large number of devotees of the Sikh jatha going to Pakistan on the occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
He said that the SGPC had sent the passports of 2244 pilgrims to the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi, out of which 1481 were not given visas. The Shiromani Committee used to always get VJs according to the quota in the Jatha, but it is sad that this time the sentiments of such a large number of devotees have been cut off.
He said that the governments of both the countries should pay special attention to this. The Shiromani Committee President said that he has raised this matter with the governments before. It is a matter of sadness that a larger number of pilgrims than before were kept away from vijas. He said that this matter will be taken up with the governments of both the countries.
