NEW DELHI: Samyukt Kisan Morcha condemns the attempts of BJP-RSS goons to disrupt peace at the morchas at Delhi's borders - SKM asks government/BJP-sponsored groups like Hind Mazdoor Kisan Samiti to desist from provoking protesting farmers and inciting violence at the protest sites
SKM today paid homage to three women farmers killed in an accident at Tikri Border today - We are deeply saddened at the loss of lives of these brave women protestors and pray for the early recovery of the injured, says SKM - A thorough investigation is needed to rule out any foul play here.
The SKM said that yesterday, BJP-RSS goons led by 'Hind Mazdoor Kisan Samiti' who in the past has extended support to the Modi Government's pro-corporate anti-farmer laws, were prevented by Delhi Police from proceeding towards Singhu Border, after they arrived from Uttar Pradesh. They were ostensibly seeking justice for Lakhbir Singh, who was murdered by some Nihang Sikhs at Singhu Border on October 15th. The Hind Mazdoor Kisan Samiti is apparently a front organisation for BJP, which in the past had met Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in support of the farm laws.
Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan is an office-bearer in the Hind Mazdoor Kisan Samiti, as per information on the social media page of the said organisation. SKM clearly sees this as one more attempt by the desperate BJP government to create trouble for peaceful protestors. SKM condemns the attempt by BJP-RSS and its front agencies to disrupt peace at the morcha sites and asks them to desist from such efforts. SKM once again demands that the entire incident pertaining to Lakhbir Singh's barbaric murder should be investigated by a Supreme Court sitting judge. The entire conspiracy to defame and attack the farm movement will emerge into the public domain only then, said SKM.
Early this morning, in a sad and unfortunate development, three women protestors were killed at Tikri Border by a tipper truck (numbered HR55N-2287); two other women protestors were badly injured. The injured were rushed to PGIMS, Rohtak. In this accident, Amarjeet Kaur, Gurmel Kaur and Sukhwinder Kaur of Khiva Dialuwala of Mansa district lost their lives. Gurmel Kaur and Harmeet Kaur were injured. SKM is deeply saddened at the loss of lives of these brave women protestors. We pray for the early recovery of the injured, and will support them for recovery, stated SKM. SKM also demanded an impartial and thorough investigation into the incident to rule out any foul play.
Today, a program of Union Defence Minister Mr Rajnath Singh had to be cancelled in a private university in Gharuan in Punjab owing to farmers' protest. A large number of farmers had gathered to protest against the event and against Mr Rajnath Singh, and the University cancelled its program and apologised to the protesting farmers for having hurt their sentiments.
It is learnt that the Government of India has cancelled the OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) cards and long term visas of an unknown number of NRI supporters of the farm movement. According to the Government of India, they were indulging in "anti-India activities". Supporting this movement cannot be construed as "anti-India" activity by any stretch of imagination. The Government is revealing that it is afraid of the continuing movement and its growing strength by actions such as this. Samyukt Kisan Morcha condemns this action by the Indian government, and says that it only shows the Government of India in a poor light in front of the world. SKM demands that the Government revoke its undemocratic and authoritarian actions, including in the case of deportation of supporters like Darshan Singh Dhaliwal from the USA.
Farmers are agitating for compensation for cotton crop damage due to pink bollworm, disaster compensation for crops damaged due to recent rains and for paddy procurement to be started in right earnest in several locations. SKM states that farmers' legitimate demands in all these cases should be met immediately by respective governments.
In Lakhimpur Kheri, it is learnt that acting on a fake complaint, which is a counter FIR lodged by one of the main accused Sumit Jaiswal, the police has arrested Gurvinder Singh and Vichitra Singh. These two protestors have been sent to police remand. Cases have been registered under Sec.s 147, 323, 324, 336 and 302, it is learnt.
The current fertiliser shortage in India reflects not only the lack of planning and management by the Government of India but also its disinterest in controlling black marketing. The Government's claims and narrative that it has created safety net for market fluctuations in the wake of the pandemic lie exposed. SKM demands that the government urgently regulate stocks and supplies of fertilisers in a manner that there is adequate, timely and smooth supply, and strict price control.
SKM said that if Ajay Mishra Teni is not arrested and dismissed from his Ministership soon, starting from 11th November 2021, a "Khet Kheti Kisan Bachao Yatra" will be organised from Palia in Lakhimpur Kheri district to Nighasan, led by All India Kisan Mahasabha. On the 13th, there will be a big rally organised in Nighasan. On the same dates, throughout Uttar Pradesh and Poorvanchal in particular, there will be padayatras, upvaas dharnas and rallies organised, demanding that police represssion against farmer leaders be stopped immediately by Yogi Government.
