SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB:  A Panthic convention organised by Sikh organisations here today rejected appointment of new Jathedars of Sikh Takhats and demanded to reinstate the previous Jathedars who were sacked by Executive Committee of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC).

The Executive Committee of SGPC had recently sacked Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh and replaced the with Kuldip Singh Gargaj and Giani at Takht Kesgarh Sahib and Tek Singh Dhanaula at Takht Damdama Sahib. Gargaj has also been given charge of the Akal Takht.

The Sikh convention has passed six resolutions which included an appeal to SGPC executive Committee to respect the feelings of the Sikh Panth and reinstate Giani Raghbir Singh and Giani Sultan Singh and Giani Jarpreet Singh who was earlier removed as Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib. Another resolution made an appeal to Sikh community to boycott the members of executive committee. The resolution hailed the three SGPC executive members who opposed the decision to sack the Jathedars.

Another resolution has appealed to SGPC to frame rules for the appointment and removal of the Jathedars of Sikh Takhts with the approval of Sikh intellectuals. If SGPC failed to take back its decision, he Sikhs from all over the Punjab would march to Amritsar on March 28 when SGPC will hold its general house meeting.

The congregation authorised the head of Damdami Taksal Harnam Singh Dhumma to lead the protest against SGPC and discuss the issue with members of Sant Samaj to resolve the issue.
