NEW DELHI:Delhi BJP MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, staged a protest near Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's residence on Tuesday, demanding his dismissal over the alleged liquor scam.
Besides, BJP leaders including state president Adesh Gupta and MPs Manoj Tiwari and Ramesh Bidhuri among others participated in the campaign being conducted outside around 20 metro stations and other prominent locations in the national capital.
The Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri led the protest raised slogans against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia, demanding that they should step down.
The protesters were stopped by police as they tried to march towards Sisodia's Mathura Road residence. The BJP leaders had started their protest from National Sports Club of India.
Bidhuri, along with his fellow legislators Mohan Singh Bisht, Vijender Gupta, Om Prakash Sharma, Jitendra Mahajan, Ajay Mahawar and Abhay Verma, was detained during the protest and later released from the Mandir Marg police station.
"We have been raising the issue of scam in the excise policy of the Kejriwal government for months but neither the chief minister nor Sisodia has answered our questions.
The BJP workers will not rest till Sisodia is removed from the government, " Bidhuri said. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power by raising the slogan of war against corruption, but it is "completely submerged" in corruption. After the protest, Bidhuri participated the signature campaign outside Rajiv Chowk metro station.
Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta who participated a signature campaign outside Karol Bagh Metro station, said that a sting video that BJP released yesterday clearly reveals the scam in Kejriwal government's excise policy. “We are seeking public support for our demand to sack Sisodia as the AAP leadership has so far avoided answering questions about the scam, " Gupta said .
Union Minister of State, Meenakshi Lekhi after participating in signature campaign in Sarojini Nagar Market, said that who gave permission to Kejriwal to loot Delhi's revenue and tax payers money.
Sisodia is saying that talking to someone on the road and describing it as a sting operation is a false allegation of the BJP, while the person who is in the sting is Kulwinder Marwah, father of accused number 13 Sunny Marwah, who is a contractor of L-1 and got contracts for the airport zone from Kejriwal and Sisodia.
Lekhi took a dig at Sisodia and said he can not hide from the BJP by not answering the questions, but the biggest strength of this democracy is no one can save him from the public and the people of Delhi who also want that such a corrupt minister has no right to continue in his post.
