Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Graced the Event and Assessed Exhibitions
BENGALURU: The four-day “Madhya Pradesh Mahotsav, ” organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, magnificently showcased the rich culture, spirituality, and art of Madhya Pradesh. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who uplifted the program’s spirit with his presence. He assessed the exhibitions set up by the Tourism and Culture Department and addressed thousands of attendees, praising the state of Madhya Pradesh and its Chief Minister for their commendable efforts.
Ms. Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director, of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, remarked, “This platform has undoubtedly been an exceptional opportunity to highlight Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage. The Tourism Department organized diverse exhibitions, promoting outreach, films, investment, and rural tourism, and also showcased handicrafts such as the Mrignayanee Emporium. Additionally, food stalls representing the state’s six regions offered a new culinary experience each day with unique dishes.”
While addressing the gathering, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, “When Madhya Pradesh shines, its cultural and spiritual light spreads everywhere.” He lauded Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for his vision and efforts, emphasizing that these initiatives are propelling Madhya Pradesh to new heights in tourism and cultural excellence. Highlighting the state’s spiritual legacy, he mentioned Omkareshwar, where Adi Shankaracharya attained Enlightenment, laying the foundation for spiritual awakening across the nation.
The festival also featured local artworks from the state. Additionally, tourists explored opportunities for investment and film production in Madhya Pradesh. Exhibitions of famous Gond and Bhil paintings, Zari-Zardozi embroidery, and Chanderi silk attracted significant attention. Visitors also relished traditional delicacies such as Indrahar, Mawa Bati, Bhutte ki Kees, and Ragi Balushahi at the food stalls.
The four-day festival included enchanting cultural evenings. The historic performance by the Maihar Band emerged as a highlight, while a mesmerizing Shiva Stuti and Bharatanatyam ballet performed by Jabalpur artists captivated the audience. Renowned vocalist Uday Bhawalkar presented soulful Dhrupad music, and the enthralling violin-sarod jugalbandi by maestros Kiran Bamne and Aamir Khan added further charm to the evenings.
The festival saw the participation of thousands of visitors, making it even more grand and vibrant. This event not only spotlighted the state’s cultural heritage but also marked a significant step toward placing it on the global stage. The “Madhya Pradesh Mahotsav” was not just a celebration but a remarkable platform where various facets of art, culture, and spirituality converged seamlessly.
