MOHALI: A state-level awareness event on World Oral Health Day was held at Medical college here today, in which Mr Kumar Rahul, principal secretary Health and Family Welfare Department participated as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Kumar Rahul said the day is celebrated worldwide to create awareness for good dental health. He said that quality dental healthcare is being provided in government health facilities across the state and people should visit these facilities for any type of dental problem. Mr Rahul said that during the last few years in Punjab, the National Oral Health program has taken steady steps. Punjab is well on its way to inaugurate 5 advanced dental Implant Centers in the state at District Hospitals. Dental Implant ology training has been initiated to actualize the same for all MO dental posted at DH level. Also, Dental OPG Machines installation has been done at DH Mohali and Amritsar. In addition, STOP oral cancer screening project has been initiated in the state in partnership of National oral health program and NCD Drive going on at national level.
In the event, dental doctors were honored for good performance. The doctors include Dr Abu Bakar, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Parminder Singh, Dr. Harmandeep Singh, Dr. Gurdev Singh-respectively from hospitals in Malaud, Mohali, Lopoke, Khaila Kalan, Kapurthala. A video of state-level awareness activities was also screened and an awareness rally was conducted by students of a Nursing college.
