MOHALI: On the occasion of World Oral Health Day, Rayat Bahra Dental College and Hospital observed a week-long celebration which was organized by the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology. On the first day a free health camp was organized in collaboration with the Department of Physiotherapy at village Kajauli.
Dr SS Gill, Dean of Medical Sciences, speaking on the occasion said World Oral Health Day marks the launch of a year-long campaign to raise awareness of oral health and prevention of oral diseases. Since 2013 these campaigns have featured a specific theme.
Dr Mandeep Kumar, Vice-Principal of the Rayat Bahra Dental College and Hospital (RBDCH), said oral illnesses affect many individuals throughout the globe, but they may be prevented by increasing public awareness, educating the public, and disseminating accurate information. In addition, this day is commemorated in order to raise awareness and money for the disease’s prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
The main objective of the camp was to spread awareness about oral health and demonstrate proper brushing techniques. Along with dental check-up, the Department of Physiotherapy also gave a wholesome contribution to make the camp successful.
Free dental checkup along with free scaling and polishing, extractions and minimally invasive restorative treatments were organized in other adjoining villages. Dr S. S. Gill, Dean of Medical sciences, and Dr Mandeep Kumar, Vice-Principal of RBDCH, encouraged dental students to participate in such programmes enthusiastically..
