CHANDIGARH: The Aam admi Party(AAP) has won three seats in Punjab, much below the expectations of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann who had set the target of winning all the 13 seats. The Sangrur seat, the home district of CM was considered a high stake seat for AAP and its candidate Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has lived up to party's expectations.
Meet Hayer has won the Sangrur seat by a margin of 1, 72500 votes, the third largest in the state after Amritpal Singh (Khadoor Sahib) 1.97 lakh votes and Charanjit Singh Channi(Jalandhar) 1.76 lakh votes.
Meet Hayer is the only minister to win his seat among the five ministers fielded by AAP to get maximum seats in Punjab. Meet Hayer is MLA from Barnala and now bye-election would be held from Barnala assembly seat within next six months.
The other two MPs elected on AAP ticket are Malwinder Singh Kang who won from Anandpur Sahib with 10846 votes and Raj Kumar Chabbewal who won from Hoshiarpur by a margin of 4411 votes. He was former Congress MLA and joined AAP few days before the election process started.
