GURDASPUR: As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, 580 voters above 100 years of age of Gurdaspur district were honored today by the District Election Office while celebrating the International Elderly Day on October 1.
BLOs went door-to-door and gave certificates of honor sent by the Election Commission of India to the voters above 100 years of age.
Giving information in this regard, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur, Mr. Muhammad Ishfaq said that based on the voter lists, 580 voters are over 100 years old in district Gurdaspur. Stating the Vidhan Sabha Constituency wise statistics, the District Election Officer said that 49 voters are over 100 years old in Vidhan Sabha Constituency 04-Gurdaspur. Similarly, 80 voters in 05-Dinanagar (AD) Constituency, 87 voters in 06-Kadi Constituency, 62 voters in 07-Batala Constituency, 70 voters in 08-Sri Hargobindpur Sahib (AD) Constituency, 09- 121 voters in Fatehgarh Churi constituency and 111 voters in 10-Dera Baba Nanak constituency are above 100 years of age.
The District Election Officer said that all the 100+ voters of the district have been felicitated by BLOs and Supervisors by going to their homes.
