Two Ludhiana resident booked for kidnapping, extortion

PHAGWARA: The Shahkot police have booked two Ludhiana residents and unidentified persons on the charge of kidnapping and extortion.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar and investigating officer (IO) Sulindar Singh said the accused had been identified as Gulab Singh a resident of Haidra Nagar under Kum Kalan police station in Ludhiana and his brother Jashan Singh a resident of Bahmanai village complained to the police that the accused kidnapped his brother Jagjit Singh (50) on November 30 kept him in their illegal custody and forced him to pay Rs 1.92 Lakh.

IO said a case under sections 140(3)(kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person ) and 308(4) (putting a person in fear of death or grievous injury to commit extortion )of the BNS and section 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused and their unidentified accomplices.
