Six Sangowal residents arrested, woman among twenty-two booked for attacking police constable

PHAGWARA: The Bilga police have arrested six villagers and booked twenty-two including a woman on the charge of attacking a police constable.

Station House Officer (SHO) Palwindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Tarsem Singh alias Muchh son of Fumann Singha resident of Sangowal village, his son Navneet Singh , Yuvraj alias Raja son of Surjit Singh and his brother Rajindar Singh alias Jindu Raman Kumar son of Darbara , Veer Chand son of Dharma all residents of Sangowl village.

Lovpreet Singh constable posted at Bilga police station said in his statement that he was on duty and went to Sangowal village in connection with ‘Yudh Nashian De Virudh ‘ for checking and collecting information about bad elements and was in civil cloths and went to the house of Tarsem Singh Muchh who is notorious for selling hooch and tried to purchase a bottle of hooch but the accused recognized him and started quarrelling and raised hue and cry and assumed a crowd which attacked him and helped Muchh to flee and obstructed him from performing his public duty.

SHO said a case under sections 132(assault or criminal; force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty , 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of the BNS and sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused and Harjindar Kaur wife of Tarsem Singh Muchh and, Raj Kumar son of Darshi of Sango Wal and their twenty unidentified accomplices.
