CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police today summoned LoP and senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa for questioning at 12 AM t cyber crime policef station in phase seven Mohali in a case registered against him for making a statement that 50 bombs had landed in Punjab, out of which 18 were blasted and 32 are still in the possession of miscreants.
The FIR was registered under section 197(1)(d) (false and misleading information that endangered country's sovereignty and unity) and 353(2) (false statements intend to create enmity and hatred of ill will) of BNS. Both the sections carry imprisonment which may extend to three years with fine or both.
A police team from Mohali had also visited Bajwa's residence in Chandigarh and questioned him regarding his statement and sought to disclose the source of his information. Police officials later said Bajwa was not cooperating with the police.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had yesterday warned Bajwa to disclose source of his information on bombs or face ciriminal proceedings. Mann had described Bajwa's claim a serious offense. Mann alleged that Bajwa had direct links with Pakistan and blamed him for creating terror in the mind of people. He also asked the Congress to clarify if they are hand in glove with anti-national groups.
Bajwa in an interview with a TV channel had raised the issue of grenade attack on the house of senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia and said that in total 50 bombs had arrived in Punjab from Pakistan and 18 have already bee blasted, the remaining 32 are still in the possession of miscreants. Bajwa said that he had just alerted the police and cant reveal his source of information. He said that intelligence department of Punjab police had failed to prevent attack on Kalia's home and a rocket launcher attack on intelligence headquarter of Punjab police in Mohali.
Bajwa said that things were going out of control of AAP government and situation would turn grave in the coming days. He said that he was victim of the terrorists and even now he could be target. He said that Congress couldn't be mute spectator to Punjab returning to black days. He said Bhagwant Singh Mann is a toral failure as Chief Minister. Mann had not seen the days of militancy since he was a child at that time.
