Mohali Police arrest youth for firing in air near Police post

MOHALI: A man sitting on the back seat of a Toyota Fortuner car with a temporary numberfired two rounds in the air under the influence of alochol and escaped from Phase11 in the early hurs of Sunday. He allegedly fires shots from his licensed .32-bore pistol to show off.

This caused chaos at the police checkpoint, after which police chased the car and apprehended the accused near Airport Chowk.

The accused has been identified as 24-year-old Mohit Grover, a businessman from Sector 91. A case was registered against him under the Arms Act at Phase 1 police station.

He will be presented in a Mohali court on Monday. Police have seized his licenced pistol and the Fortuner car.

Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek said, "We have zero tolerance for such miscreants and Mohali Police never pardons such people. The youth has been arrested. He Fired in the air and fled.

According to the police, Grover went to a nightclub in Sector 7, Chandigarh, with two friends on Saturday night. He consumed alochol there and reached Mohali at 3.50am. Meanwhile, a police checkpost had been set up at IISER Chowk in Mohali.
