PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a Jalandhar villager on the charge of attempting to rape a minor. DSP Nakodar Sukhpal Singh said the accused had been identified as Som Lal alias Sodhi a resident of Khunn Khunn village under Jamsher Sadar police station.
The Grandfather of the victim complained to the police that the accused barged into his house on November 8 morning and attempted to rape his minor granddaughter.
IO said a case under sections 64(rape) and 62(attempting to commit offenses punishable with imprisonment for life or another imprisonment) of the BNS and section 4, 18 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 has been registered against the accused and raids are being conducted to arrested absconding criminal.
