PHAGWARA: In a determined drive to combat drug trafficking and street crime, the Jalandhar Rural Police have apprehended five suspects involved in illegal drug and liquor distribution, seizing 32 grams of heroin, 35 narcotic pills, and 12 bottles of unlicensed liquor. This coordinated crackdown was executed across multiple police stations to root out criminal elements from the district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Zoravar alias Soni, from Dhuleta, apprehended at the point of sale with 7 grams of heroin by the Guraya Police team while attempting to conduct a drug transaction.
- Pargat Singh, resident of Dubai Colony, Dhariwal Kadia, intercepted at the point of sale with 5 grams of heroin and 35 narcotic pills by Lambra Police during an attempted sale.
- Pankaj Kumar alias Panchu, resident of Safipur, found with 12 bottles of illicit liquor by Lambra Police.
- Shasheel and Rajni alias Rajji, from Mohalla Santokhpura, caught at the point of sale with 20 grams of heroin by Phillaur Police as they were preparing to conduct a drug transaction.
Speaking to the press, Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, PPS, emphasized the department's firm stance against illegal activities, stating, "Jalandhar Rural Police are unwavering in their zero-tolerance approach toward drug smuggling and street crime. Violators will be dealt with an iron hand, and we will continue to dismantle these criminal networks to ensure a safer community."
Acting on intelligence inputs about specific points of sale, the police teams conducted targeted operations. The Goraya Police team led by Inspector Palwinder Singh, under the supervision of DSP Sarwan Singh Ball, seized 7 grams of heroin from Zoravar alias Soni at the point of sale. Meanwhile, Lambra Police led by SHO Balbir Singh, with support from DSP Surinderpal Dhogdi, conducted two successful operations. The team recovered 5 grams of heroin and 35 drug pills from Pargat Singh at his point of sale and apprehended Pankaj Kumar alias Panchu with 12 bottles of illicit liquor. Finally, a special CASO operation conducted by Phillaur Police, led by Inspector Sukhdev Singh, resulted in the arrest of Shasheel and Rajni alias Rajji at their point of sale with 20 grams of heroin.
Each of these cases has been registered under the relevant sections:
- FIR No. 133 at Police Station Guraya under NDPS Act against Zoravar alias Soni.
- FIR No. 105 at Police Station Lambra under NDPS Act against Pargat Singh.
- FIR No. 106 at Police Station Lambra under Excise Act against Pankaj Kumar alias Panchu.
- FIR No. 299 at Police Station Phillaur under NDPS Act against Shasheel and Rajni alias Rajji.
Preliminary investigations reveal that each of these accused individuals has been involved in trafficking or illicit sales, with evidence of possible connections to larger networks. The arrests at various points of sale indicate an organized distribution system. Further questioning is expected to uncover additional links and details about their sources and distribution plans.
The arrested individuals will be presented before the local court, where remand will be sought to facilitate further investigation into their connections and activities.
