PHAGWARA: The Phagwara Police have arrested a youth and recovered one .32 bore illegal pistol along with two live cartridges from his possession last night. Addressing press conference here this evening Phagwara S.P. Rupinder Kaur Bhatti told that the arrested person was identified as Kulbhushan Soni @ Vinni Soni resident of Sarafan Bazar Phagwara. She said after getting a tip off the police was nabbed from a jewellery shop in Purani Tehsil Phagwara.
The accused was wanted in a criminal case registered under 25-54-59 arms act on August 4.SP Bhatti told that DSP Phagwara Jaspreet Singh is investigating the matter.
In another case the police have arrested a drugs peddler and recovered five gram of heroin from his possession last night.
SP Bhatti said the accused identified as Gurwinder Singh@ Gindu resident of village Virk near Phagwara was nabbed at a check point near local urban estate. A case under NDPS act has been registered against the arrested accused, said Bhatti.
SP said in third case the police have arrested two youths today under section 304BNS on the charges of snatching cash of Rs 11, 000/- at sharped weapon point from a Phagwara resident Upinder Dass near Kirti Nagar Phagwara on September 7 night.
The arrested accused were identified as Hani Kumar and Sunil both residents of village Saloh near Nawanshahr. The Police have recovered one without number motorcycle, Rs 5, 000/ and a Datar(Sharped Weapon) from the arrested accused who were used to loot the commuters travelling on highways, said SP Bhatti.
Fraud Travel Agents Booked
SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said that in fourth case The Phagwara Police have booked three travel agents under section 420, 120B of IPC on the charges of duping lakhs of rupees in the pretext of sending people abroad. The accused were identified as Aniket Anand, Robin and Jagbir Singh all residents of Jamalpur near Ludhiana. SP Bhatti said that the police got secret information that the accused were in their attempt to go abroad after duping huge amounts of the people.
