PHAGWARA: In a significant development, Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested the father of renowned actress Himanshi Khurana, for allegedly assaulting and threatening a public servant on duty.
The accused has been identified as Kuldeep Khurana resident of House No. 68, Street No. 01, New Company Bagh, Tibba Road, Ludhiana.
Speaking to the press media, Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, PPS, said that this arrest was made under a special operation to curb crimes against public servants. The operation was executed under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath and DSP Phillaur, Swaran Singh Bal PPS.
Based on the victim complaint, a special team comprising Inspector Palwinder Singh, SHO Goraya, conducted strategic raids after gathering crucial intelligence inputs about the accused's whereabouts in Ludhiana and successfully arrested the accused from Ludhiana.
In this regard FIR No. 71 dated 22.05.2024 under section 132, 351, 121 BNS registered at police station Goraya
The investigation revealed that on May 22, 2024, the accused allegedly entered into an altercation with. Jagpal Singh, Naib Tehsildar Goraya, at his official chamber and issued death threats.
The accused was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Phillaur, and has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
"Any attempt to obstruct government officials from performing their duties or threatening them will be dealt with strictly as per law. We have zero tolerance for such behaviour, regardless of the accused person's social status or connections, " said SSP Khakh.
