GNDU NSS Unit Celebrates Ayurveda Day with Enthusiasm

AMRITSAR: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, celebrated Ayurveda Day with zeal and enthusiasm, highlighting India’s ancient wisdom of holistic health and wellness. The celebration aimed to sensitize students and faculty members about the significance of Ayurveda in leading a balanced and healthy life. 

The function was graced by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Deputy Director, AYUSH, as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Dinesh said, “Ayurveda is not just a system of medicine, it is a way of life. If adopted in our daily routine, it can help us achieve harmony between body, mind, and soul. Young people must come forward to rediscover this treasure of Indian tradition and apply it in modern lifestyles.” 

Dr. Saroj Arora, Dean, CDC, GNDU, also addressed the students and shared her valuable insights. She remarked, “Ayurveda symbolizes India’s cultural richness and scientific legacy. It is important for today’s generation to recognize the preventive and curative strengths of Ayurveda. I congratulate the NSS Unit for organizing this meaningful celebration and spreading awareness among the youth.” 

The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Balbir Singh, NSS Coordinator, who highlighted the purpose of celebrating Ayurveda Day and emphasized that “Ayurveda is not only about treatment, but about adopting a lifestyle that prevents illness and strengthens immunity. Moreover natural drugs are safe and have negligible side effects.” 

A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Meenu Verma, Head, Department of Laws, who expressed gratitude to the esteemed guests and participants for making the event successful. 

Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Bimaldeep Singh motivated the students with their encouraging words, stressing the need to blend traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches. Dr. Harkirandeep Kaur and Dr. Aditya Parihar, Program Officers of NSS, extended their support in organizing the event smoothly. 

The celebration was attended by a large number of faculty members and students, who actively participated in the discussions and interactions. The program proved to be highly enriching and left the participants with a deeper understanding of the relevance of Ayurveda in today’s life. 

The NSS Unit of GNDU continues to play an instrumental role in sensitizing students on social, cultural, and health-related issues through such impactful events.
