Sarthik beats Harsh in a tough three-setter

CHANDIGARH: The toughest match of the day in the STA-AITA Taltent Series Tennis Tournament was played between Sarthak Singla and Harsh Shandilya in the boys under-16 prequarter-final at the Chandigarh Club here. Both players displayed their best show. However, Sarthak emerged winner in  a keen contest. Sarthak won the first set 6-3 but Harsh just managed to clinch the second set in tie-breaker at 7-6 (3). Tied one set all, Sarthak wrapped up the third and deciding set 6-2 and moved into quarter-final.

 

The other matches in the boys Under-16 category were one-sided affairs. Shubh Negi advanced into quarter-final without dropping even a single game against Shivansh Gupta 6-0,6-0.Nishank Thakur too proved too good for Garv Patiyal whom he blanked by 6-0,6-0.


Dilbar Darshan defeated Janish Tamak in three setter boys under-14 pre-quarter-final match 6-3,2-6,6-1.

Girls Under-16 (Ist round): Suryanshi Tanwar bt Anusha Verma 6-1,6-1, Radhika Vasudeva bt Avneet Kaur 6-1,6-1, Khushi Sharma bt Sargam Singla 6-1,6-4, Pawandeep Kaur bt Yashika Sharma 6-1,6-0.

Girls under-14 (q-finals): Anusha Verma bt Parnika Jain 6-0,6-1, Khushi Sharma bt Ananya Dogra 6-4,6-4, Milli Pandit bt Avneet Kaur 6-1,1-6,6-2.
