Lima Das 5th as India finish joint 19th in IAAF World Under-18 Championships

CHANDIGARH: The Indian contingent, which competed in the IAAF World Under-18 Championships at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, will return home with a lone silver medal earned through Damneet Singh who finished second in hammer through with a release of 74.20 metres.
India finished joint 19th with Chinese Taipei, Cyprus, Latvia, Bulgaria and Guyana.
South Africa just managed to pip China to lift the overall trophy with five gold, three silver and three bronze medals.China also got 11 medals, five gold, two silver and four bronze medals. China owed their runners-up position to women who clinchedd three gold, two silver and three bronze medals. South African boys won four gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Cupta were third in medal table with five gold, two silverand one bronze medals. Kenya were third with four gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.
