Calvin, Krishan, Kaavya, Ashpreet move into finals

CHANDIGARH: Top seed Calvin Golmei and Ajay Malik of Haryana set up title clash in the boys under-18 singles final of the organizing CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for Boys and Girls under-16 and 18 at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.

Calvin Golmei, Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association trainee defeated Rudra Kapoor in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. In the second semifinals Ajay Malik pulled off a surprise by shocking second seed Udit Kamboj, also of Haryana, in a 3 setter marathon match. Udit won the first  set 6-3. Ajay Malik fought back and took the second set in tie break 7-6v(3).

In the third and final set Ajay played consistently with his aggressive ground strokes from the baseline and closed set and match at 6-3.    
 In the boys under-16 singles semifinals top seed Krishan Hooda of CHART defeated Nitin Jaipal Singh in a 3 setter match 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. In the another semifinals 2nd seed Krish Patel defeated 4th seed Divesh Gahlot in a marathon 3 setter match 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.  

In girls under-18 singles semifinals 2nd seed Kaavya Sawhney of CLTA defeated 4th seed Vanshika Choudhary in a one sided match 6-1, 6-1. In 2nd Semifinal another CLTA Trainee Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa defeated Ameek Kiran Batth 6-3, 6-4.

In girls under-16 singles finals Sandeepti Singh Rao will play against Vanshika Chaudhary tomorrow.
In boys under-18 doubles finals Krishan Hooda / Deepender Grewal defeated 2nd seed Divesh Gahlot / Sushant Dabas in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.
In girls under-18 doubles finals Aspreet Kaur Bajwa / Himaanshika defeated Harleen Kaur / Sanya Singh in straight sets 6-1, 6-3
