Haryaha Police arrests two selling artificial jewellery in the name of Gold

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police has arrested two persons on charge of selling artificial jewelry in the name of gold. Those arrested has been identified as Ramesh of village Bibalsar, district Jalor, Rajasthan and Ganesh, a resident of Aam Ka Talab Colony, Ajmer.

While stating this today, a spokesman of Police Department said that the accused had sold five gold chains for Rs one lakh to Mahipal, a resident of Golagarh, district Bhiwani on April 27, 2017.

The spokesman said that Mahipal informed the police that he had gone to Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani on April 27 due to some work. After finishing the work, when he was waiting for an auto-rickshaw near the gate of Board’s office, three people approached him and showed a piece of gold. They also told him that they found five gold chains while digging the foundation of a house adding that if they approached any jeweler with these chains, he would raise doubts. Therefore, they wanted to sell these chains. On this, Mahipal brought five gold chains from these youth for Rs one lakh. But when Mahipal showed these chains to a jeweler, he found that the chains were made of fake gold.

He said that on the complaint of Mahipal, the Police registered a case against unidentified persons on May 2 and started searching for them. He said that ASI Kartar Singh of CIA alongwith Mahipal were searching for the youth in the city and when they reached the slums in Dabar Colony, Mahipal identified the accused present there. On this, the police arrested both the accused.

The spokesman said that during the investigation, the accused confessed their involvement in half-a-dozen similar cases in Rajasthan. They used to bring artificial jewelry from Sadar Bazar, Delhi. He said that they were involved in the work of selling plastic flowers but their actual work was to dupe people.
