Three Punjab Panchayts honoured on on independence Day

SAS NAGAR: Director Rural Development and Panchayats Punjab sh. G. K. Singh IAS honoured and awarded three Gram Panchayats of the State for excellence performance on 70th Independence Day.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Rural Development and Panchayats department Punjab said that the Gram Panchayats Kot Karor Khurd block Ghalkhurd of district Ferozepur has remained on the top whereas the Gram Panchayat Manhera Jattan block Khera of district Sri Fatehgarh Sahib has remained on the second position and Gram Panchayat Suchander block Verka of district Amritsar has got the thied position.

Today Independence Day was celebrated at Vikas Bhawan in S.A.S Nagar with great enthusiasm and fervor. Sh. G.K.Singh Director hoisted the National Flag. Vikas Bhawan complex was decorated with beautiful flowers, pots and colourful buntings.

The three gram panchayats of the state have been awarded for exhibiting excellence in different fields. The Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal had already declared to honour by awarding these gram panchayats. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh enlightened upon the importance of Independence, our responsibilities and duties. He said that Panchayats can in fact play an important role in development of villages.

Sukhjit singh Bains Joint Development Commissioner (MGNREGA), Mrs. Raminder Kaur Buttar Joint Director and othe senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
