SLSC gives NOD to upgradate 1100 Km of road length & construction of 16 bridges

CHANDIGARH:In a bid to further improve the road network for the holistic development of rural areas, Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, while chairing the meeting of State Level Standing Committee (SLSC) as the Chief Secretary on Friday before noon, gave nod for the upgradation of 1100 Km length of roads and construction of 16 bridges.
Mr. Karan Avtar Singh discussed the road list under Phase-3 of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). After discussing the various issues and selection criteria, the SLSC cleared about 1100 Km of road length for upgradation. This project will be executed on fund sharing basis i.e. 60% share from Govt. of India and 40% share from State Government. The cost of the project will be approx. Rs.750 crore wherein, most of the roads will be widened to 5.5 m width. It has also been decided to construct 16 bridges on rural roads with the cost of approximately Rs.40 crore.
An official spokesperson giving further details said that after preparing the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), the project is likely to be submitted to the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Govt. of India (GoI) in July 2020. The work in the field is likely to be started in the month of October/ November, 2020.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Forest & Wildlife Ms. Ravneet Kaur, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary Public Works (B&R) Mr. Vikas Pratap, Secretary Punjab Mandi Board Mr. Ravi Bhagat and other senior officers of the state.
