SBS Nagar District Goes Through The "Acid Test" Twice, becomes Corona free

NAWANSHAHR: After a month long battle against Novel CORONAVIRUS, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district had once again become s COVID-19 free district today with the discharging of remaining two patients. These patients were undergoing treatment at the second Isolation Facility of SBS Nagar set up at Guru Nanak Mission Charitable Hospital Dhahan Kaleran near Banga.

Isolation Facility In-charge and SMO Community Health Center Banga Kavita Bhatia, while disclosing the success of her medical and paramedical  staff, said that there were total 21 COVID-19 affected patients. "It was not less than a challenge for us but the entire team braved the challenge unitedly and succeeded in sending all these patients to their homes without any fatality, " she said .

She said that they  had been assigned medical and paramedics team comprising of 12 Medical officers including two medical specialists and 10 dedicated staff nurses who had performed earlier at district's first Isolation Facility at District Hospital Nawanshahar, five medical lab technicians, eight pharmacists, four ward attendants and three sweepers. "These all were deployed on three shift duties to manage the Isolation ward, " she informed .

Especially, expressing gratitude to the management of Guru Nanak Mission Charitable Trust Dhahan Kaleran for offering their premises to health department for running the Isolation Facility here, she said that even infrastructure needs were also provided by the management in this noble cause towards service of humanity.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajinder Bhatia while adding to the details said that they  have  treated 101 patients of our own district and 11 from other districts that were found positive in our district. With the discharging of last two patients, we are feeling happy to have our district COVID free one again, he said .

Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bublani said that after making our district COVID free on April 22 with the discharge of last patient, a new case surfaced on April 25 and after that it was a long tally.  "Now, it's a matter of pride that our health department has once again performed a challenging job and cured many a patient without any fatality barring the death of Giani Baldev Singh of Pathlawa, " he added. Appreciating the medical teams of Nawanshahr and Dhahan Kaleran Isolation Facilities, Bublani exhorted them to be ready for any exigency in future too as though" we have cured the patients but pandemic still exists".

He also made an appeal to the patients discharged from Isolation facilities of the district to abide by the seven days' home isolation period strictly to get fully cured from the disease.
