Ropar police files defamation case against Chandigarh based journalist

ROPAR:- The Ropar Police has registered a crimnal case against Chandigarh based journalist Jai Singh Chhibber on the complaint of Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab cabinet minister for techniocal education.

The case under sections 188(disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by public servant, section 505 (false statement, rumour etc circulated with intent to cause mutiny or offence against the public peace) of IPC and section 67 A of IT Sct for publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit etc etc).

Jai Singh Chhiber is working for Jalandahr based vernacular newspaper Dainik Jagran and Punjabi Jagran. Police is conducting raids to arrest Chhibber. Chhibber had written a report for trying supoer natural solutions by Channi to prevent his exclusion from Punjab cabinet in wake of controversy inlvolving Chief Secretary Karan Avat Singh.

Meanwhile Punjab and Chandidgarh Journaosits Union has condemned the registration of case against journalist.
