GURDASPUR: At present ,where as the whole country indulge into the menace of mass copying in the examinations, Baba Aya Singh Riarki girls in Gurdaspur district , is free from this mal practice as its students do not believe in the malpractices of copy during in the examinations.
The students had collected Rs. 21 thousand from the students of this institution for those persons who could caught any student while copying in the examinations and this purpose GNDU and PSEB were not bother to deploy full staff for annual examinations. Only a superintendent, an invigilator and a clerk were deployed on the duty but irony that the students perform the duty in the centre.
The staff deployed on such examinations duty are duly satisfied with behavior of the students as the students distribute the answer sheet before the commencing the paper and distribute the question papers also. The students do not write a word before the commencement of examination and finishing of time. There was pin drop silence in the examination hall . During the examination , the doors of the examination centre remain open ,any body from the outside can check the centre.
The students who had collected the money Rs 21,000 from themselves, had displayed in a corner of the examination centre and no one neither caught the any copy cease nor managed to get the prize money.
PSEB has deployed Deepak Kumar as superintendent and Amninder Singh deputy superintendent in the college who said that the Punjab School Education Board had set up the examination centre in the college for plus classes three decades ago and since then not a single case of copy was reported . At present 108 students were appearing in the exams which was continuing peacefully.
Similarly the Guru Nanak Dev university had set the examination centre in the college in 1980 for BA I to BA Final classes.
The college was started with a 14 girl students in 1974 on the 15 acre land , in all these 4000 students to take care of .Only five teachers had been recruited in the college for difference subjects and each teacher gives lecture to a group of students, who further in turn give lectures to their fellow students.
Fulfilling their principle aim each one teach one brilliant students teach junior students so that college never felt the need of more teachers. The college has only two clerks to look after the college account and students have been imparted training to everything by themselves.
Principal Swaran Singh Virk, who was also a student of once a time school, said that college charge Rs, 6500 annually “ real expenditure” incurred on the hostlers but imparting free education to the day boarders.
Emphasizing, the character building of the girl students , principal Virk said ” we haven’t made education a trade and impart basic and real education and try to make students face the grim realities of outer world” as they sweep their class room and make the food for hostlers mate.
There is no discrimination on the basis caste , race and religion as the college celebrates festivals of all religions and students of all walk of life participate in it . Being a Sikh populated area, the students from Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities also studying here and they have liberty to perform their religious rituals in the college independently.
An eleven member students committee headed by a secretary , takes all important like admissions, exams, fee structure, expenses and other day to day problems . The members are elected by slap voting and other students accept them.
On the bank of upper bari doab (UBDC) canal in Tugalwal village in the district the girls college not only imparting the best education but also providing moral, ethical, discipline , social and religious values to the students.
