Punjab has initiated various pathbreaking measures to bring relife to industry: Sunder Sham Arora

CHANDIGARH:Government of Punjab under the visionary leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh, has announced big relief to the Industrialists of Punjab in the phase of economic recession coupled with the hardship due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Allottee of industrial plots of PSIEC and prominent industrial associations like CII, PHD Chambers of Commerce, CICU, MIA etc. had sought relief to allow industrial plot holders extension in time period for commencement of production on their plots. Also, they had been demanding provision of residential accommodation in industrial plots allotted by PSIEC.

Besides, industrialists of Punjab have also been raising their voice for giving extension in time period of Amnesty Scheme applicable to the defaulter plot holders of different Focal Points for making payment of Principal amount of enhanced land cost, awarded by judicial courts.

Mr. Sunder Sham Arora, Industries & Commerce Minister, Govt. of Punjab, informed that in view of the persistent demand of plot holders and to create congenial atmosphere for the workforce, the State Government has now permitted allottees of industrial plots up to 15% of the total covered area in the industrial building for the housing purpose of their staff or workers in all the Industrial Focal Points already developed /being developed by PSIEC in the State without payment of any conversion fee.

Mr. Arora further stated that the State Government has also extended the validity period of Amnesty Scheme applicable to the recovery of enhanced land cost by 3 months i.e. upto 31.08.2020. Under this extension, the period beyond 30.05.2020 to 31.08.2020 would be considered as zero period for the purpose of recovering the enhanced land cost. Allottees of plots of different Focal points covering Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar Mohali, Bathinda, Pathankot, Goindwal Sahib, Tanda, Mandi Gobindgarh etc. would be benefitted from this decision.

Mr. Arora also informed that PSIEC has permitted extension in time period to the defaulter allottees of industrial plots of different focal points for commencement of production. He added that defaulter industrial plot holders of different focal points, who have already submitted their building plan with the concerned authority upto 31.03.2020 have been allowed an extension in time period for commencement of production upto the period of 30.09.2021.
