Punjab Government starts Kisan Credit Limit scheme for cattle breeders of State: Tript Bajwa

CHANDIGARH: The cattle breeders of Punjab would also be from now on entitled to avail the Kisan Credit Limits. Disclosing this here today, the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab, Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that on the pattern of farming community, for the ease of the cattle breeders of the state, a new mechanism of the bank credit limits on easy rates have been commenced so as to enable them to cover the expenses incurred on the feed of animals, medicines, water and electricity expenses.

The minister said that every cattle breeder can decide his own credit limit in accordance with his own comfort. Under the scheme, every cattle breeder would be granted per family an amount of Rs. 3 lakh on 4 percent rate of interest. This would immensely benefit the small and landless cattle breeders because for availing the amount to the tune of Rs. 1.60 lakh, the security in the form of land would not be necessary. The only pre-requisite would be the availability of animals/cattle. He called for the extensive amount of publicizing of this scheme on the part of the officers of the department so as to ensure that maximum number of farmers associated with the allied occupations can derive optimum benefit from the scheme.

On the occasion, the Director, Dairy Development Mr. Inderjit Singh and the Director, Animal Husbandry Mr. Gurpal Singh Walia said that all the banks as well as the District level officers of the Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and the Dairy Development department have been fully apprised of the scheme.

They further said that this scheme is being widely publicized through social media and per animal limit amount has also been fixed for 6 months which is Rs. 61, 467 for Buffallo and Hi Breed Cow, Rs. 43, 018 for Locally bred Cow, Rs. 2, 032 for sheep and goat, Rs. 161 for Broiler, Rs. 8, 169 for female pig and Rs. 630 for the Layer Hen.

The required amount can be withdrawn by the cattle breeder at the regular intervals from the card issued to them and furthermore, they can return the entire limit on any one day in the year and get new limit on the pattern of the kisan credit card. There would be no fee charging by the bank for making the limit.
