PHILLAUR:Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary along with former Punjab Youth Congress President and Phillaur Assembly Incharge Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Friday inaugurated a tube well to supply drinking water and a road in Goraya.
The tube well has been installed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and the road has been constructed with interlocking tiles at Rs 14.5 lakh in Mohalla Krishna Colony, Ward 7 of Goraya.
Speaking to reporters after the inauguration, MP Chaudhary stated that the Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, is focused on complete transformation of Goraya town. “To be provide safe drinking water, Goraya now has six tube wells and all of them would have RO systems. The Municipal Council is also buying six generators so that the water supply is not disrupted during power outages, ” he said.
Assembly In-charge Vikramjit Chaudhary thanked Captain Amarinder Singh and said that the newly inaugurated tube well would meet the long pending demand of people of the area. He stated that many other initiatives and schemes are under pipeline for development of Phillaur assembly constituency. “The Congress government is prioritizing development of every village, city and ward of Punjab. In Goraya, basic infrastructure is being developed at fast pace and for disposal of waste, a sewage treatment plant is also being installed, which would become operational within a year, ” he added.
Goraya Municipal Council President Kamaldeep Singh Bittu, Goraya Market Committee Chairman Dara Singh Boparai, Rurka Kalan Block Congress President Rakesh Duggal, Goraya City Congress Vice President Sanjay Atwal, senior Congress leader Ram Lubhaya Punj, EO Goraya Randhir Singh, Anil Joshi, Municipal Councillors Baljinder Pahwa, Anju Atwal, Sukhraj Kaur, Jaswinder Chinta, Ravinderpal Rinku, Rajeev Punj, Raushan Lal Bittu, Jiwan Das and Manu Joshi were among those present on the occasion.
