JALANDHAR: Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar and President, College Principals’ Association Non Govt. Affiliated Colleges has reiterated the demand to the Government of Punjab regarding the release of impending financial aid and grants for the government aided colleges of the state.

Dr. Samra informed that the colleges of the region duly dispatched claims for the same covering the period of October 2019 to February 2020 and on this claim the government has only released 27.5% grant in the month of March thereby still keeping the remaining amount hanging in the balance. Principal Dr. Samra also informed that the amount impending with the government is now heavily concerning many colleges of the region to the levels of non-payments in terms of salaries for college teachers and staff members for the last four months in total.

Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra urged the government of Punjab to immediately look into this matter as such lack of funds from the government is causing more and more burden on colleges especially in the turbulent period of ongoing lockdown enforced to halt the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. On behalf of the College Principals’ Association, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra also appealed to the staff and students alike to take full precautions regarding the safety measures as prescribed by the government and health department for a greater welfare of the nation.
