Ropar court awards death sentence to step father for murder of two minor children

ROPAR:  The district and session court Rupnagar today awarded death sentence to a convict step father who kidnapped two school going minor children and disposed off their dead bodies after killing them in September 2017.

District and Session Judge B.S.Sandhu pronounced the capital punishment to the convict Ashok Kumar alias Pintu a resident of Baweta village in Gaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh citing the murder of two children rarest of rare murders. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000 on the convict.

Ashok Kumar who was step father of children had kidnapped and killed them on September 25, 2017. He got married to a local resident Rajni who had two children from the previous marriage. Ashok Kumar wanted Rajni to conceive his child. He drowned the children in river to get rid of them.

The court also sentenced Pintu to ten years rigorous sentence and a fine of Rs.10,000 under section 363 of IPC for kidnapping the children and five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5000 under section 201 of IPC  for disposing off the dead bodies. He would undergo the imprisonment in case his death sentence is not confirmed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The district attorney Amarjit Singh Mahal appeared for the state, Mohit Supra advocate appeared for the complainant Rajni and Rajbir Singh was the defence lawyer.
