Family members of murdered Phagwara boy holds protest

PHAGWARA: Hundreds of residents including the family members of a Phagwara youth Sanyam Gupta, whose half-burnt body was found in deserted area near the Uchani village in district Karnal on Sunday, today hold noisy demonstration and blocked vehicular road traffic on Phagwara—Banga Road and near Goal Chowk Phagwara, accusing the family of a girl, with whom he reportedly had an affair, of kidnapping and murdering the boy. Though Karnal Police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against unidentified persons, but the protesters  were demanding the arrests of the accused in Phagwara.

Vehicular road traffic was lifted after the assurance of complete justice given by the police. When contacted The Superintendent of the Police Phagwara Parminder Bhandal told this correspondent here on Tuesday afternoon that though the post-mortem report indicates the possibility of suicide, but the police have been exploring all angles to crack the case.

Sanyam’s family members, alleged it was a clear case of murder as the deceased was kidnapped around 8 pm on Holi day and was murdered. They said that they have lodged complaint in City Police Station Phagwara about mysteriously missing of Sanyam. They claimed that Sanyam could not commit suicide, but was murdered by the family of the girl. SHO Phagwara Bharat Masih said he summoned and questioned the family members of the girl on Tuesday noon and the police is investigating the matter in  minutely in details.
