CHANDIGARH: The BJP government in Haryana seems supporting rape accused dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh against whome the CBI court in Panchkula would pronounce judgement on August 25. The Manohan Lal Khattar Government has been trying to influence Judiciary by allowing lakhs of dera followers to reach Panchkula without any check.
The Haryana and Punjab Governments had laid police barricades on all roads but police was told not to stop dera supporters. The question arised over the intentions of Khattar government for not stopping dera followers in their home towns and villages. It was made a massive show of strength by dera chief to create panic and to browbeat judiciary.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim understood to have supported BJP to return to power in Haryana in the last assembly elections. Dera head has large number of followers on Haryana and neighbouring Punjab. The politicians from both the states line up at dera headquarter in Sirsa for support during elections. Badal family in Punjab is among the politicians who seek blessings of so called 'Pitaji'.
The Haryana government has allowed the situation to go out of hand and compromised the safety of lives of common citizens. It was beyond understanding why central forces were deputed when they had no order to stop dera followers on outskirts of Panchkula. As per an estimate over 5 lakh supporters reached Panchkula which shows implicity of BJP government.
Dera Sacha Sauda is also facing two murder cases besides rape case of sadhvi in his dera in 2002. Several other girls living in dera had also complained of rape but many cases were hushed up. Even in the present case key eyewitness Ranjit Singh who facilitated the Sadhvi to file complaint was murdered. The Sirsa based journalist who carried report of rape in his newspaper 'Poora Sach' was murdered by the goons of dera chief. CBI has already filed chargesheets in these cases.
Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken notice of the involvement of Haryana governemnt in present situation and ordered the DGP Haryana to shunt out dera premis from Panchkula before 10 AM on August 25. The High Court would against review the situation at 11.30 AM on Friday. Ther High Court has warned the DGP that he would be dismissed from service if he failed to implement court orders.
High court has rightly dealt with the situation and gave a warning to political establishment to fall in line or face consequences. It is sad state of affairs that High Court has asked Haryana Government to call army to disperse the followers of dera. The army has been deployed in Sirsa where curfew has been imposed and also kept standby in other parts of Haryana and also Punjab.
Khattar government must resepect the judiciacy. Earlier the BJP government got the High Court rap on Murthan rapes when women were raped during Jat agitation. Khattar government had tried to hush up the highway rape cases and termed it rumours.
