Truck driver arrested with 6 quintals of poppy husk ordered by jailed smuggler.

PHILLAUR: The Jalandhar(rural) police on Sunday arrested a truck driver with 6 quintals of poppy husk ordered by a jailed smuggler.
Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doctor Ankur Gupta told the media that the accused has been identified as Rannjodh Singh alias Kala a resident near Milk Dairy Jugian Mahan Singh Nagar Phillaur and presently living at Shishro Wal village Phillaur.
Doctor Gupta said that 6 quintals of poppy husk were packed in 24 bags of plastic covered under POP bags.
He told the police that he brought this contraband from Rajasthan on order from a smuggler Harwinder Singh Bassi son of Bhag Singh a resident of Garra village in Phillaur who is lodged in Jammu jail and his clerk Mahi was to sell this further and was meant to be loaded in Haveli of Happy and Rs40.000 were to have paid him for transporting this contraband.
SSP said a case under section 15(C) 61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
