Punjab State Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill organized a Lok Adalat in Amritsar to hear women's issues.

AMRITSAR: Punjab State Women's Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill today held an open court here today to listen to the problems of women and directed the police officers to resolve the complaints on the spot. It is worth mentioning that in today's Lok Adalat, 33 cases were heard by the Commission and 70 more cases received were also heard.

Talking to the press, the Chairperson said that the Commission will go to every district and resolve the problems faced by women.

She said that the aggrieved women are not able to reach the Commission in Mohali , hence the Commission organizes public hearings in the districts and tries to resolve the problems on the spot. In response to the questions of the press, she said that there is no political pressure on the Commission and the Commission investigates the cases impartially.

Talking to the press, the Chairperson said that there is no political interference in the Commission. She said that today's young generation is going down the wrong path by having live-in relationships , which needs to be stopped. She said that families are also being destroyed due to misuse of social media and are eating our society like a roach.

Chairperson Raj Lali Gill, while hearing about 33 cases during this Lok Adalat, directed the police investigating officers to re-investigate in most of the cases.

She said that the Punjab State Women's Commission believes that any victimized woman should be given a full hearing and be provided with rational justice in a time-bound manner. In response to a question from the journalists, Raj Lali Gill said that the Women's Commission is very strict in the matter of using foul language against women, therefore, any ordinary or special person should refrain from using any kind of foul language against women. Responding to a question about political pressure on the Commission, she said that the Commission does not allow anyone to be pushed and is fulfilling the goal of providing justice to the victims in a transparent manner by playing the role of mediation in all cases without any political or other pressure.

Chairperson Lali Gill said that since she took over in March 2024 , more than 6000 cases have come up for hearing , out of which 80 percent have been disposed off.

She said that today, cases related to marital relations , property related , NRI marriage , dowry , exploitation of girls and women , live-in relationships , domestic violence etc. had reached her.

Raj Lali Gill said that currently, due to intolerance and lack of tolerance, tensions and conflicts are increasing in families.

She said that the increase in old age homes is also worrying for our society.

On this occasion, along with the Chairperson, Deputy Director of the Commission, Mr. Gulbahar Singh Toor , Member of the Commission, Sukhbir Kaur , and other senior police officers were also present at the Lok Adalat.
