leaning and Maintenance of 29 Drains Carried Out To Avert Flood Like Situation in District

PATIALA:Cleaning and maintenance of around 29 Drains and other flood protection works have been carried out in view of the current rainy season Under MGNREGA in Patiala Drainage Division, said ADC (D) Dr Preeti Yadav here today.

By executing these works, the damage to the adjacent crops and the population from rain water could be averted, she said, by adding that a total cost of Rs 96.73 lakh have been spent on these 29 number of works and around 36789 persons days of employment has been provided.

Giving block wise details, she said that in block Ghanour, a total number of 5 works have been carried out including cleaning & maintenance of Pachisdara Drain and clearing of forest, repair of Mahiduda Dam, cleaning & maintenance of Bhuri Majra drain and Mirapur.

Similarly in block Rajpura work of cleaning & maintenance of Pachisdara Drain has been carried out.

In Shambhu block of district Patiala, cleaning and maintenance of the Creek alongside of Basman-Tepla road has been done.

She added that in Block Bhunerheri, a total number of 7 works have been carried out including removal of obstructions by removing mounds of soil from river Ghaggar, cleaning & maintenance of Sheikhupura Adaltiwala drain, Rohar Jagir drain and Mirapur rivulet and flood prevention work on river Ghaggar.

Apart from that a total number of 3 works including cleaning & maintenance of Nim Sahib drain and Mirapur rivulet have been done in block Sanaur.

Divulging the works carried out in Patiala block , a total of 5 works including cleaning & maintenance of Phaggan Majra drain, Kalwa Suniarheri drain and Mirapur chow have been carried out. In Block Nabha, two works including cleaning & maintenance of Sirhind chow have been done.

In Samana block cleaning & maintenance of Chambowali Choa has been carried out while three works including repair of Sagra-Para dam, cleaning & maintenance of Chambowali Choa and Kalwanu drain have been completed in Patran block.
