Food Commission Member Vijay Dutt Reviews Wheat Distribution and Meri Rasoi Food Kit Scheme in Ajnala
AJNALA: Punjab State Food Commission Member Vijay Dutt visited various government ration depots in the Ajnala area today to review the distribution of wheat and other food grains being supplied under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The visit was part of his two-day tour of Amritsar district aimed at assessing the ground-level implementation of food security schemes.
During the inspection, he visited government ration depots in aliwal, Anaitpura, Paidawal and Lakhuwal (Ramdas) villages. He examined distribution records, reviewed the ration distribution process, and interacted directly with beneficiaries to assess the quality of services being provided and to understand the challenges they face.
Vijay Dutt stated that the primary objective of the Punjab State Food Commission is to ensure that every eligible beneficiary receives his or her entitled food grains in a timely and transparent manner under the National Food Security Act. He emphasized that the Commission is continuously monitoring the ration distribution system at the grassroots level to prevent irregularities and strengthen accountability.
During the visit, he also reviewed the distribution of special food kits being provided under the Punjab Government’s “Meri Rasoi Yojana.” He sought details from the concerned officials regarding the progress of the scheme, the number of beneficiaries covered, and the overall distribution mechanism. He directed the officials to ensure timely delivery of benefits to all eligible families.
Vijay Dutt interacted extensively with beneficiaries and listened to their concerns, suggestions, and grievances regarding ration distribution and other related services. While many beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the system, some raised local issues and concerns. The Commission Member directed officials to address all genuine grievances on a priority basis.
He reiterated that the Punjab Government and the Punjab State Food Commission are fully committed to ensuring food security for poor and needy families across the state. He instructed officials to maintain transparency in the distribution process and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of his or her rightful entitlement.
