NAWANSHAHR:Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday visited the flood prone areas and reviewed the arrangements being made by the district administration to strengthen the vulnerable points in the areas along with river Sutlej.
The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by SDM Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon, DRO Ajitpal Singh visited the villages Tajowal, Dhaingarpur Hussainpur Hadiwal and others.
Sarangal underscored the need to put in place a viable mechanism for completing all the flood control arrangements before the advent of rainy season.
He said that the district administration would keep vigil to avoid any sort of untoward incident during the monsoon season.
He also directed the officials to
strengthen flood prone sensitive places to minimize damage in the possibility of excess rain.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration would make adequate arrangements to meet any sort of situation in wake of rainy season. He asked the officers to ensure that any work required for strengthening the vulnerable points along with the river were completed at the earliest.
Deputy Commissioner also held detailed interaction with the officers of drainage department regarding their proposals of Rs 4.5 crore for these works and said that thr administration has sought the amount for carrying out the works.
He asked these officers to ensure these works completed in a time bound manner.
He said that no stone should be left unturned to evolve a foolproof mechanism for fortifying the weak points along with river Satluj so that people do not face any sort of inconvenience during the upcoming rainy season.
Sarangal said that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure that people do not face any sort of problem during the rainy season.
