CHANDIGARH: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia today revealed the identity of the second accomplice in the case involving the murderous assault on S Sukhbir Singh Badal by ISI operative Narain Singh Chaura as Jaspal singh Jasa alias Jasa Mota alias Sirlath who is a known terrorist with a criminal record.
In a statement here, Mr Bikram Majithia said “now we have identified both the accomplices of Chaura who were present with him in the Sri Darbar Sahib complex when he conducted a recee of the shrine on December 3 as well as on December 4 when he fired on S Sukhbir Singh Badal from point blank range with a semi automatic weapon. This conclusively junks the claims of the Amritsar Police which has asserted that the attack was a lone wolf operation”.
Asserting that the Amritsar Police and its Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar had a lot to explain, Mr Majithia said “I had released video footage of the recee conducted by the terrorists in the Sri Darbar Sahib complex. We had even identified one of the terrorists as Dharam Singh alias Dharma Baba two days back. Now we have identified the second accomplice also. Still Amritsar Police is not recognising the incident as a terrorist strike and has not included the two associates of Chaura in the FIR registered in the case”. He also disclosed that Jaspal alias Jass Mota was a known radical and terrorist.
Asserting that it had been established that the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal was a planned and premeditated attack with Narain Chaura at the head and assisted by two accomplices, the Punjab DGP should not delay allocating the probe to a non-partisan and credible officer like Prabodh Kumar. “It has now become even more important to ascertain why Superintendent of Police Harpal Singh Randhawa was assisting this team of assassins. This can only be done if SP Randhawa is subjected to custodial interrogation”. He said the role of Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar in trying to divert the probe by coming up with “sympathy and lone wolf angle” as well as diluting the FIR in the case should also be probed.
