AMRITSAR: When the case of desecration of the Gutka Sahib of the Holy Gurbani in the Raja Garden area of Jalandhar came to light, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned this unfortunate incident and said that there has been a continuous increase in the incidents of desecration of the Holy Gurbani for some time now. Due to the lack of serious and strict action by the government and the administration in such cases, the courage of the culprits is continuously increasing.
Advocate Dhami said that the Punjab government is campaigning for strict punishment to the culprits of sacrilege regarding the amendment in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, but it is proving to be unsuccessful in taking action against the culprits of sacrilege and bringing to light those who are conspiring behind it.
The SGPC President said that Gurbani teaches humanity to live a life of universality while providing guidance. Some people, by committing such unfortunate incidents of sacrilege, not only hurt the religious sentiments of the Sangat, but also pose a great threat to the communal harmony of the state.
He said that it is the duty of the administration to arrest the culprits and also bring to light the forces working behind such incidents.
He also appealed to the Sangat to pay special attention to the proper care of Gutka Sahib and holy books kept in their homes.
