Vijayant Malik, Shahbaaz Khan and Poplavskyy qualify

CHANDIGARH: Sixteenth seed Shahbaaz Khan upset top seed Jayesh Pungliya of India in straight sets 7-6(6), 7-6(7) in the final qualifying round of the India F3  International Tennis Federation (ITF) Men’s Futures US$-15,000 Tennis Tournament at Tennis Stadium, Sector 10 here today.

Vinayank Sharma Kaza defeated 2nd seed Nitin Kumar Sinha 6-3, 6-4. In other qualifying round  fixtures former CHART trainee Vijayant Malik won from 4th seed Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash. Mohit Mayur got retired in the 1st set. Pierre Lance Du Toit of Sourth Africa defeated Anirudh Chandrasekhar 6-2, 6-4. Other player who qualify for the Main Draw are Siddharth Vishwakarma, Kunal Anand and Suraj R Prabodh.  

 Prajnesh Gunneswaran of India and Carlos Boluda-Purkiss of Spain have been given first and second seeds, respectively. Carlos opens his campaign with a match against wild card Siddhant Banthia of India while Prajnesh is pitted against Goran Markovic of Serbia.
