Tarini Goyal wears Chandigarh Chess crown

CHANDIGARH: Woman FIDE Master Tarini Goyal of Sacred Heart School became the champion by logging six points at the conclusion of 28th Chandigarh Chess Championship at Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector 37-A, here today.The second position was bagged by Naveen Bansal, who also scored six points but got second position on tie-break with Tarini.

Both Tarini Goyal and Naveen Bansal remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and had a neck to neck fight for the championship in the last round. The third position was bagged by Levanshu Khullar with 5.5 points and the fourth position went to Prateek Wadhawa with five points.

A total of 41 players participated in this championship out of which 19 were FIDE rated players.
Tarini Goyal, Naveen Bansal, Levanshu Khullar and Prateek Wadhwa will be representing Chandigarh in the forthcoming National Challengers Chess Championship being held at Ahmadabad, Gujarat from from August 13 to 23.

6 points: Tarini Goyal, Naveen Bansal. 5.5 pts: Levanshu Khullar. 5 pts: Prateek Wadhwa, Nagpal Tejas, Vohra Abhinandan, Saurabh Sharma. 4.5 pts: Shubham, Nitin Rathore, Vipan Negi, Rahul Arora, Arnav Kushwaha. 4 pts: Aditya Malhotra, Shaunak Chaudhary, Shaurya Chopra, Precious Bansal. 3.5 pts: Ishaan Narang, Parus Banota, Vaibhav Rawat, Anmol Rattan, Nirmit G Naik. 3 pts: Kakara Aaryaman, Nissim Aggarwal, Lovish, Abhishek Kumar, Birranjeev Garcha, Hitesh Bhardwaj, Rhythm. 2.5 pt:s: Rohit Roy Chaudhary, Piyush Baryah. 2 pts: Manav Gupta, Aaryan Gupta, Yuvraj Singh, Gaurika Gupta, Ramdev, Jasleen Kaur. 1.5 pts: Sunil Bansal. 1 pt: Prateek Kumar, Prachi Gupta, Archit Sheokand.
