Simran Pritam faces Pawandeep in girls U-14 final

CHANDIGARH: Simran Pritam will be challenged by Pawandeep Kaur for the girls under-14 singles crown in the STA-AITA Tennis Series Tournament at the Chandigarh Club in Sector 1 here.

In the semi-final matches played today, Simran Pritam, who was down one set, rallied to prevail over spirited Harnoor K Sidhu  in three setters 3-6,6-3,6-3 and Pawandeep Kaur moved into the final at the expense of Catherine Bhangu whom she beat by 7-6 (6),6-2.

Sanchit Dabas had a smooth sailing into the girls under-16 singles final as she outplayed Bhumi Kakkar in straight sets 6-1,6-3 in the semi-final.

Lakshya Gupta, Aditya Chauhan, Sarthak Gandhi and Sukhpreet S Jhojhe barged into the boys under-16 singles semi-final with straight sets wins over their respective rivals.Sukhpreet S Jhojhe did not drop even a single match against Harmanjot Singh 6-0,6-0 in the quarter-final round.

In other quarter-finals: Lakshya Gupta defeated Uday Jyoti 6-1,6-1; Aditya Chauhan beat Avish Verma 6-3,6-1and  Sarthak Gandhi proved too good for Arnav Bishnoi 6-0,6-1.

Boys under-14 (q-finals): Ekamjeet Singh bt Atul Ajay 6-1,6-2, Gurpuneet Singh bt Haramrit Singh 6-4,7-6 (3), Aryan Aggarwal bt Arnav Bishnoi 3-6,7-6 (7),6-4, Shraey Vir bt Harwin S Munjal 6-2,6-4.
Boys under-16 (q-finals): Lakshya Gupta bt Uday Jyoti 6-1,6-1, Aditya Chauhan bt Avish Verma 6-3,6-1, Sarthak Gandhi bt Arnav Bishnoi 6-0,6-1, Sukhpreet S Jhojhe bt Harmanjot Singh 6-0,6-0.
Girs under-14 (q-finals): Bhumika Gupta bt Ayushi Prajapat 6-1,6-1, Anush Verma bt Khushi Sharma 6-2,6-2. Semi-final: Sanchit Dabas bt Bhumi Kakkar 6-1,6-3.
Girls under-14 (s-finals): Simran Pritam bt Harnoor K Sidhu 3-6,6-3,6-3, Pawandeep Kaur bt Catherine Bhangu 7-6 (6),6-2.
Boys doubles Under-16 (Ist round): Avish / Sukhpreet bt Uday/Gurpuneet 6-3,6-2, Harmanjot/ Sarthak bt Yash /Shivam 6-2,6-2, Arnav/Anirudh bt Damanpreet/Vishal 6-7 (5),6-4,10-7, Aditya/lakshay bt Aryan /Harwin 6-1,6-2.
