Rain disrupts matches in Dhruv Pandove Trophy

CHANDIGARH: Rain disrupted the fifth round matches in the seventh All-Inia Under-19 Invitation Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy being played  at Government College Ground Ropar, H.R.Saggi Cricket Ground, Patiala and Dhruv Pandove Stadium, Patiala.
In the first match played at Govt. College Grounds Ropar between table toppers MPCA and Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh won the toss and opted to bat.  They opened with Ayush Pandey and Ved Vyas Sahu who put on 24 runs for the first wicket before Ved Vyas Sahu was run out by Tripuresh for 14 off 53 balls with 3 boundaries.  
At this stage Karan Sharma joined Ayush Pandey and the duo put on 48 runs for the 2nd wicket before Karan Sharma was trapped in front by Tripuresh for 21 off 52 balls with 4 boundaries.  Kibnoor Chhabra and Ayush Pandey were involved in a partnership of 29 runs for the 3rd wicket which took the team’s total to 101 for 3 in 38.4 overs. Kibnoor Chhabra was stumped by B.B. Sahu of Pronkesh for 06 off 22 balls with one boundary.
Chhattisgarh then lost three quick wickets to be reduced to 112 for 6 in 48.2 overs.  Ayush Pandey who was keeping one end up was caught by Divyansh of Triprush after scoring a sedate half century  56 off 118 balls with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.  Parkash Shukla and Parvesh Dhar added 58 runs for the 7th wicket before Parkash Shukla was caught by S.Baggad off Onkar Nath for 34 off 69 balls with one boundary and two sixes. Parvesh Dhar was unbeaten on 33 and Binny Sammuel  0 with team’s total reading  170 for 7 when sharp showers brought an end to the days proceedings 3.30 pm.
 For MPCA Prankesh 3 for 49 and Tripuresh 2 for 24 were the main wicket takers. Tomorrow is the last day of the match.
BRILLIANT CENTURY BY PUKHRAJ MANN AGAINST BARODA
Punjab under-19 winning the toss and electing to bat were initially rocked by the Baroda bowlers when they removed opener Ishan Goyal  (6) and inform batsman Arjun Azad  (6) with the team’s total reading 13 for 2 in 5.2 overs.  Punjab lost another quick wicket when Anshul Chaudhary  was castled by Pahal Marathe  for 7 reducing Punjab to 36 for 3 in 10.3 overs.   Thereafter opener Pukhraj Mann was joined by Dipin Chitkara and the duo started to reconstruct the innings.
 Playing the Baroda attack with ease they scored 187 runs in 46 overs to take the team’s total to 223 for 4 in 56 overs.  Dipin Chitkara who had been bating with great aplomb was finally caught by Atharv off Sumedh  Dodia for 89 off 139 balls studded with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.
 Jaish Jain then came in to fill in the breach and added 50 runs for the 5th wicket before well entrenched opener Pukhraj Mann was eventually caught by N.Patel off S.Rawat after hitting a match saving century 115 off 191 balls with the help of 5 boundaries and 2 sixes. Jaish Jain and Salil Arora then added 59 runs for the 6th wicket before Jaish Jain was caught P.Darjee of Knit Patel for 22 off 52 balls.
 Punjab were 341 for 6 in 86 overs when the match ended because of rain. At close Salil Arora was unbeaten on 76 off 91 balls with 4 boundaries and one six while Sumit Sharma was unbeaten on 2.  For Baroda  N.Patel , Ashutosh Aggarwal, Pahal Marathe  , Dharmindera, Knit Patel , S.N.Ashwat scalped one wicket each.
