Radhika and Pawandeep rally to qualify for final

CHANDIGARH: Radhika Vasudeva and Snigdha Sran dished out thrilling tennis in the girls under-16 singles semi-final of the STA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament here today. Radhika Vasudeva went down in the first set at 4-6. However, Radhika reorganised her game and was lucky to clinch the second set in tie-breaker at 7-6 (4). Levelled one-set all Radhika maintained her pressure on her rival and wrapped up the well-contested semi-final by winning the third and final set at 6-4.
Radhika's opponent in the final will be Pawandeep Kaur, who also rallied to beat Jyotsana Yadav in three-setter 2-6,6-0,6-2 second semi-final.
Abhay Mohan and Jitin K Chetry will cross swords in the boys under-16 singles final. Both semi-finals were decided in straight sets. Abhay Mohan beat Avish Verma 6-2,6-1 and Jitin K Chetry dis;posed of the challenge of Himanshu Tahiliani 6-0,7-5.
Results: Boys Under-14 (q-finals): Rijul Bhatia bt Jashan Gupta 6-1,6-2, Sanat Goyal bt Kartik Sunil Kumar 6-2,6-4, Aarush Sharma bt Yash Jindal 6-2,6-1, Aditya Chauhan bt Manjotpreet Singh 6-0,6-0. Semi-finals: Sanat Goyal bt Rijul Bhatia 7-6(4),7-5, Aditya Chauhan bt Aarush Sharma 6-3,6-1.
Boys Under-16 (q-finals): Jjitin K. Chetry bt Sarthak Gandhi 6-1,6-0, Himanshu Tahiliani bt Karan Sandilya 6-4,6-2, Avish Verma bt Nishank Thakur 5-7,6-4,6-3, Abhay Mohan bt Akash Srinivasan 6-1,7-6(6). Semi-finals: Abhay Mohan bt Avish Verma 6-2,6-1, Jitin K Chetry bt Himanshu Tahiliani 6-0,7-5
Girls Under-16 (q-finals): Pawandeep Kaur bt Vishita K. Ranbir 6-0,6-0, Jyotsana Yadav bt Sargam Singla 6-1,6-1, Radhika Vasudeva bt Milli Pandit 6-2,6-1, Snigdha sran bt Harnoor K. Sidhu 6-3,6-1. Semi-finals: Pawandeep Kaur bt Jyotsana Yadav 2-6,6-0,6-2, Radhika Vasudeva bt Snigdha Sran 4-6,7-6(4),6-4.
Girls Under-14 (q-finals): Mrigakshi Verma bt Bhumika Gupta 7-6(5),3-6,6-0, Sargam Singla bt Milli Pandit 7-5,6-2, Anusha Verma bt Ananya Dogra 6-4,6-1.
