Punjab in control against Karnataka in CK Nayudu Trophy

CHANDIGARH: Punjab were in strong position after scoring 99 for no loss in 34 overs in their first innings  at close of play on day one in the quarter-final match against Karnataka in the Under-23 Col. C K Nayudu Trophy at Dhruve Pandove Stadium in Patiala today.
When stumps were drawn for the day, Abhijeet was batting with a sedate 26 while Sanvir Singh was batting on 68 Sanvir played an aggressive note by hitting nine boundaries and one six.
Earlier, batting first Karnataka were bundled out for 116 in 51 overs. A defiant unbeaten knock of 40 by KN Bharath avereted an abject surrender. KL Srijith (16) and Prateek Jain (19) were the other Karnataka batsmen who reached the double figure mark.
Mayank Markande (4 for 31) and Sanvir Singh (3 for 22) were mainly responsible for restricting Karnataka's total of 116. Jagjit Singh  bagged 2 for 39.

Karnataka (Ist innings): 116 all out in 51 overs (Nischal D 12, Abhinav Manohra 8, KL Srijith 16, KN Bharath 40 not out, 2x4s, 1x4, Prateek Jain 19, Sanvir Singh 3 for 22, Mayank Markande 4 for 31, Jagjit Singh 2 for 39, Nikhil Choudhary 1 for 4).
Punjab (Ist innings):  99 for 0 in 34 overs (Abhijeet Garg batting 26, Sanvir Singh batting 68, 9x4s, 1x6).
