Patiala beat Chandigarh in Under 19 D.P. Azad Trophy

CHANDIGARH: Patiala defeated Chandigarh by 26 runs in their under 19 D.P Azad Trophy fourth round match played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala and garnered four points while Chandigarh got zero. Overnight rains forced the match to be reduced to 25 overs. Patiala winning the toss and deciding to bat were 153 for 8 in 25 overs. Opener Pukhraj Singh 62 off 64 balls with 5 boundaries and one six and Deepak Kumar 30 off 32 balls with 2 boundaries were the principal run getters for Patiala. Pukhraj Singh and Deepak Kumar put on 71 run for the third wicket before the Deepak Kumar was cleaned up by Yuvraj Chaudhary. Pukhraj Singh also was bowled by Yuvraj Chaudhary for 62.
For Chandigarh Yuvraj Chaudhary 3 for 26 and Amit Shukla 3 for 34 were the most successful bowlers.
Replying Chandigarh were bundled out for 127 in 24 overs. Opener Ayush Gautam (31) and Ayush Sikka (27) were the main run getters for Chandigarh. For Patiala Anurag Watts (4 for 26) and Deepak Kumar (3 for 22) were the main wicket takers.
The second match between Jalandhar and Mohali at Burlton Park was abandoned because of rains and wet conditions. The match will now be played tomorrow at the same venue.
The third match between Amritsar – Ludhiana was abandoned at Gandhi Grounds Amritsar because of rains and wet conditions of the ground. The match will also be played tomorrow at the same venue.
