Panjab Varsity hat-tricks in Varsities Badminton

CHANDIGARH: Trained by national coach Surinder Mahajan, Panjab University maintained their monopoly by winning the All India Inter University Badminton Championships at KIIT University Bhuvneshwar , for the third year in succession, on Monday.
It may be recalled that PU shuttlers have been winning the top two positions for the last many years.
Golden hat trick
Captain Kawaldeep Singh and Kartik Jindal played key role as from the beginning till end of the tournament both of them did not lose even a single match and the team made clean sweep by defeating all team in league and knock out matches 3-0.
In quarter-final Panjab University players beat Rajasthan 3-0. In semi-final PU shuttlers blanked Delhi 3-0 and in final they beat Andhra to clinch the prestigious title.
Panjab University Sports Director Director Dr. Parminder Singh congratulates players and officials for this victory and told that team will be honoured during annual function with cash award.
Kawaldeep Singh of Panjab University was declared the best player of the tournament and was awarded special trophy.
Results: Semi-finals): Paunjab bt Delhi 3-0 (Kawaldeep bt Sahaj Minhas 21-15, 21-13, Kartik bt Kaujtubh 19-21, 21-7, 22-20, Kawaldeep & Hardik bt Sahaj & Chiraj 22-20, 24-22).
Final: Paunjab bt Andhra 3-0 (Kawaldeep bt Chander 17-21, 21-15, 21-13, Kartik bt Aneeth 21-13, 21-14, Kawaldeep & Hardik bt Chander & Aneeth 22-20, 21-18, 21-17).
