Lucky Minerva FA retain Administrator's Challenge Cup

CHANDIGARH: Playing in style, defending champions lucky Minerva Football Academy  retained the 15th Administrator's Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament (Boys U-17 Team) beating state-run Chandigarh Football Academy by 2-0. Both the teams exhibited skillful play right from beginning. Style of play was same of both the teams. Both teams played using controlled short passes which earned the plaudit of huge crowd present to witness the final match at Sports Complex, Sector 7.
Minerva FA were lucky as despiting losing to Cordia South Hall Football  Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib in their pool match and in the semi-final. However, Minerva FA protest against Cordia South Hall Football  Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib for fielding an overage player was upheld by the two-member panel appointed by the organisers and the  Fatehgarh Sahib were suspended for three years and Minerva FA were promoted to the final.
However, no action has been taken against the officials who were directly connected in clearing each and every player before the match after verifying the records and medical examinations.
    
In the 20th minutes of play, the C.F.A lads initiated a move from the left flank. Shabby Khan took the long pass and entered the box of Minerva and hit a powerful shot but Minerva custodian Bharat averted it by a side punch.
Now it was the turn of Minervas which initiated a move from the right flank. Ajjo gave a long pass towards right flank where his team mate gave it to forward Bijio who took a chance to score the goal with a powerful side volley but the alert CFA custodian Harry saved it with a side dive. Corner kick was awarded to Minerva which was taken by Gibson who gave a low height ball towards penalty area of C.F.A where Vikram scored the first goal for Minerva with a header. Minerva lads were leading by 1-0 at the breather.
After the interval, Gibson of Minerva attempted a superb side volley but Chandigarh Goalkeeper foiled his attempt. It was again Minerva who initiated a superb move from the right flank. Their right medio Ajjo pulled the ball towards right flank and gave a pass to Gibson who returned it to Vikram inside the penalty area. Vikram placed the ball nicely into the C.F.A.  goal which was the second goal for Minerva.
    After conceding two goals, CFA lads came up with a couple of good moves but their efforts were foiled by spirited Minerva. In the 75th minutes of play, Lovepreet of C.F.A was brought down by Dalbir of Minerva. A direct free kick was awarded in favour of C.F.A. Karandeep hit a powerful shot but alert Minerva custodian well collected the ball.
 Eventually Minerva FA won 2-0
Punjab Governor  V.P. Singh Bandore gave away the !5th Administrator’s Challenge Cup  to the winner along with a cheque of Rs. 3 lakhs. Runners-up CFA lads were presented a cheque of Rs.1.5 lakhs and third place achievers Imphal City Football Club were given cheque of Rs. 75,000.
 BL Sharma, Secy Sports, Chd Admn., Captain Karnail Singh, Director Sports, Chandigarh. Dr. Mahender Singh, Joint Director Sports, Chandigarh Sh Ravinder Bawa, DSO, Chandigarh ,  Bharat Bajaj,IAS (retd.) former Secy sports , Chandigarh Administration along with his dear wife  Rupan Deol Bajaj, IAS (retd) and area councilor  Ramesh Inder Sidhu were also present on the occasion.
